Notes – Lawrence Bruce Arnold was the son of Louisa Adelaide (Dolly) (nee Smith) and James William Arnold in 1929. His siblings were Gladys, Edna, Lloyd, Joyce and Eddie. Lawrence was known to his family by his second name, Bruce.

Without warning, death came quickly to the young teenager after a very short illness. His brother Eddie later recalled how Lawrence had woken up one day and was unable to walk. His parents did not know what had happened to Lawrence. They took him to the Tara hospital on the Sunday and when he showed no improvement he was then taken onto the Dalby hospital on the Thursday. Unfortunately it was to no avail as Lawrence died shortly after admission to the hospital.

In 2025 his family decendants still have strong ties to the Tara district.

It was a sad story for one so young. Lawrence rests in the grave located next to his Grandparents (Adelaide and Edward Smith). The inscription on his headstone reads – In Loving Memory of Lawrence Bruce Arnold Died Jan 19th Aged 13 Years.
