Notes – Sydney was born in 1902 and he was the son of George and Katie Blackbell (nee Gray) of Victoria. In 1914 his parents live at 19 Railway Place, Coburg and his father worked as a labourer and his mother performed home duties.

Sydney, who was known as Syd, had been ill for many years and had ironically come to the Tara region to improve his health. He suffered from heart disease and tuberculosis. It is not known who he was visiting or where he was residing at the time of his death.

Syd was only twenty one years old when he died and there is no headstone to mark his final resting place.
