Notes – CLARKE, Mary Merle was born in 1917 at Inglewood, QLD to Mary Jane Adeline (nee Bridge) and Thomas Clarke. She was from a large family with siblings, Sylvia, Allan, Irene, Lindsay, Audrey, Mervyn and Arnold.

Some of her sisters married into the local families of Sommerfeld, Houley and Coleman. Because of her young age, no information on any jobs she may have had can be found as she was not old enough to be registered on the roll.

Her baby Mary Jane died on the 12th of September, 1936 and Mary Merle died fifteen days later. She was only 19 years old when she died.

Mary has a headstone but her daughter who lies beside her has none. Mary’s headstone reads – In loving memory of Mary Merle Clarke 1917 -1936.
