Notes – John was the son of Georgina Annie (nee Urquhart) and John Thomas Cooley. He was one of eight children. His siblings were David John, Annie, Georgina Fanny, William Charles, Edward John, Elsie Florence and Agnes.

John married Florence Jackson in Townsville on the 1st June 1935 and they had one son.

The 1937 roll details indicate the couple were living in Haniwick St, Hughenden with John working as a labourer and Florence Home duty. In 1943 they were living at Vinidex St, Winton shearer and home duty. Henry Cooley and Sydney Henry were also noted as living at Vinidex St with them and working as drovers and 1949 has them at Sarina, mill worker and home duty.

The 1956 Electoral Roll shows that John and Florence moved to Tara in March 1954. John listed as a shearer and Florence as a housewife.

John has a headstone that reads – In loving memory of my dear husband and my father John Henry Cooley. Died 10th Oct 1956. Aged 41 years.
