Notes – Agnes was born to Elizabeth (nee Brolly) and Samuel Dowey in 1887. She was part of a large family including her siblings, John Johnston, Francis Brolly, Mary Jackson, George Black, Samuel Welch, Joseph Oswald and David William.

She lived in Victoria and married Matthew Robert Crosbie on the 15th January, 1908. Her hands were kept busy with her children and helping with her husband’s farming pursuits. Her children’s names were Janet Mary, Agnes Eileen, Enid Isobel, Leslie Verdun, Robert Daniel Keith, Allan Matthew and Jessie Elizabeth Annie.

Electoral rolls in 1909 have Agnes and Matthew at Swanpool, Victoria then in 1919 with Matthew at Echuca, Victoria and 1928 to 1953 with Matthew at Iona, Goranba near Tara.

Matthew Robert Crosbie died in 1953 and is buried in Tara Cemetery. At the time of her death, Agnes was living in Smallacombe St, Tara. Agnes is buried beside her husband Matthew.

The inscription on Agnes headstone reads – In Loving Memory of our dear mother and grand-mother Agnes Maxwell Crosbie. Died 17th September, 1960 Aged 73 years. Thy will be done.
