Notes – John Vincent was the son of Edward Wilfred and Selina Maey Donnelly (nee Lambert) and he was born in Toowoomba.

Sarah Jane Payne married John on May 7, 1913. On the roll for 1913, John is recorded as living at Inglestone and working there as a station hand. In 1916 John, Sarah and their son William were living at Tara when John travelled to Toowoomba to enlist in WWI. His address on his enlistment paper reads c/- Mr R Meacle, Inglestone via Dalby.

John was attached to the 11th Depot Battalion Hospital Unit. While in the army he contracted a very severe dose of measles and he was sent to Rosemount Hospital. As a consequence of the disease John lost his hearing, leaving him deaf. He was discharged medically unfit and retired out of the Army on a small pension. He went straight back to Inglestone and worked for Mr Meacle where he had worked before prior to his enlistment. On the 1925 electoral roll John is still registered as living at Inglestone.

It is unclear at this point in time if John Vincent Donnelly was related in any way to young Arthur Austin Donnelly who is buried a few graves away from John.

John Vincent Donnelly is buried in the Tara cemetery and the inscription of his headstone reads – In Loving Memory of John Vincent Donnelly. 5th August, 1942 Aged 68 years.
