Notes – John Andrew was born to Bridget Mary (nee McPhee) and Henry Lester in 1872 at Albury, NSW. In 1898 he had a farm area at Cootamundra.

John’s census records have him at a few locations 1898 John was at Cootamundra and had 143 Acres. 1903 John was at Canbelego Cobar and a miner, 1913 at Elong Elong, Liverpool, NSW and finally here at Tara in 1928 at Journeys End, Perthton, Tara with Jessie and Jessie May.

John worked as a miner at Cobar before marrying Jessie Kerr McReath Heron who was a nurse at Nyngan, NSW in 1905. They had five children together. His children all had a love of sport by the looks of it which must have been supported by him.

Jessie died in 1934 and John died in 1935. He was in hospital for a time before he passed away. He shares his headstone with Jessie which reads – In Loving Memory of our dear parents, JOHN A. LESTER. Died Nov.3.1935. Aged 62 years. JESSIE K.LESTER. Died Dec.22.1934. Aged 59 years.
