Notes – William Joseph (Joe) McNamara was born in June 1942 and he was the son of Dorothy Emily (nee Smallbone) and Thomas Fredrick George (Teddie) McNamara. William, who was known as Joe to his family, had three siblings, Tommy, Mary and Joyce.

Sadly young William passed away when he was only sixteen years old. A year after his death, William’s parents were living at Tullagrie where his father was working as a labourer and his mother was a nurse in Tara. They later moved to Meandarra at Bush Home and Myrtle Bank, then to Tara for a small time before they returned to Walton Street, Meandarra.

William has a headstone to mark his small grave and the inscription reads: In loving memory of our dear Son and Brother. William Joseph McNamara . Passed away 5th July, 1958 Aged 16 Years. At Rest.
