Gilbert and his twin brother Ronald James Robertson were born on December 21, 1915 to Isabella Robina (sometimes spelt Revina) Robertson. From the birth certificate numbers it appears that Ronald was born first then Gilbert.

The electoral rolls of that time show Isabella working at the Corinda Infants Home in Brisbane, perhaps that may have been where the boys were born as it appears that Isabella may have been unmarried at the time. Isabella married Alexander Percy Gilmour in 1918 and moved to Ayr where she passed away in 1940.

Gilbert is seen as being enrolled to attend school at the Wooloowin State School in Brisbane in 1929 but the records show that he never attended.

Little else is known of the twins yet ironically we know that they were both born in December 1915 and both died in January 1934, aged 18 years. Gilbert died on January 2, 1934 and is buried in Tara Cemetery on the Western Downs. Ronald died in Brisbane a little over two weeks later on January 18, 1934 and is buried in the Toowong Cemetery.

Gilbert has no headstone.
