Notes – John Fredrick Schutt was born to Hans and Christina (nee Reisz) Schutt in 1875. His siblings were – Emma, Henry, Christina, Minnie and Hans.
John married Esther Margaret Adams when he was 24 yrs old. They had eleven children. Please see Esthers information for all their names.
He came to Tara from Bendigo ( Kangaroo Flat) in 1908. He chose a section of the old Pethton station and called it Holstein Park for where his father came from. He cleared the ground and grazed sheep and was an avid beekeeper.
He was know thoughout Southern Queensland for his bees and honey. He won many prizes for his honey and was a member of the Beekeeper Assoc in 1932. When he died he had a will that is available for viewing, stating he was a graizer and Apriarist.
John played the piano and violin at dances at the Tara Hall.
SCHUTT, John Fredrick has a headstone shared with his wife Ester that says - In loving Memory of our dear father John Schutt. Died 2nd September, 1956 Aged 80 years.
