BAKER, Lousia Ann

Name – BAKER, Lousia Ann
Born – 13/04/1873
Died – 15/08/1937
Location – No 27 Anglican Section
Mother – Lousia Blackman
Father – George Talbott

Notes – Lousia Ann Baker was born in 1873 and she was the daughter of Lousia (nee Blackman) and George Talbott. Her family tree information has her as being from the Gamilaraay people of the Gamilaroi Nation from Coonabarabran, N.S.W. She appears to have come from a very large family, with her siblings and half siblings being Ruth, George, John, Henrietta, Elwin, Mary, Eliza, William, Thomas, Walter, Arthur and Clive.

Louisa married Joseph Henry Baker when she was twenty years old. She had no children for the first few years of their marriage, and their first child died as an infant. After this the couple went on to have Joseph Henry Jnr Baker (1897), Francis W Baker (1898), Florence Jane Baker (1900), Thomas C Baker (1902), May Eliza Baker (1904), Walter John Baker (1906), Jack Baker (1908), Grace Alexander Baker (1910) and Kathleen Maude Baker (1913).

It appears that Joseph Henry Snr died sometime between 1913 and 1920. Louisa moved to Musgrove Park, Undulla Creek in 1920 with several of her children including Joseph Henry Jnr. Her brother George James Talbott joined them in 1928 and he is also buried in Tara Cemetery.

The Electoral Rolls show Louisa still living at Musgrove Park, Undulla Creek at the time of her death in 1937.

Louisa had been held in high esteem within the community as she was known as Mrs L.A. Baker, not by her husband’s name, which was the custom in that day and age.

Engraved on Louisa’s headstone is the following inscription – In Loving Memory of Lousia Ann Baker Died 15th August, 1937 Aged 63 years Born 1874.
