Notes – Elizabeth Shearer was born on 5th October 1857 at Ardrossan, Scotland and was the daughter of Elizabeth (nee Barclay) and Charles Shearer.
At some point she moved to Australia and in 1881 she married Gilbert Bogle in Victoria. They had eight children, Mary Anna, Phyllis Jane Belle, Elizabeth Anna, Gilbert Innes, Archibald James, Violet Euphemia, Kennedy Cassillis and Anna Kennedy.
From 1903, rolls indicate Elizabeth was living at Kangaroo Flats, Victoria with Gilbert and Phyllis, where Gilbert worked as a coal merchant. By 1913, Elizabeth was living at Church St, Kangaroo Flats with Violet. There was no mention of Gilbert, but it is believed his name may have been accidently registered as Boyle. The 1915 rolls have her living with the two Gilberts and Violet at Holstein Park, Tara.
Up until the time of her death, Elizabeth lived with her daughter Anna Kennedy. Her husband Gilbert predeceased her by seventeen years.
Elizabeth shares a headstone with Gilbert and the inscription on their shared headstone reads – In loving Memory of Our dear father Gilbert Innis Bogle Died February 12th 1917 and Our dear mother Elizabeth Bogle Died July 7th, 1935.
