Notes – John Green Snr. was born around 1860 in Lancashire, England to John and Ellen Green. He married Alice Cotterall and the couple came to Australia in the early 1900s, possibly in 1910 aboard the Otway.

The couple and two of their children appear on the census records 1901. The entry reads John, Alice, John Jnr and Thomas at Chorley, Lancashire, England with his occupation listed as a sheet metal worker. In 1917 John, Alice and John Jnr were living at Maudlands, Warra. In 1921 John, Alice, John Jnr, Thomas and Margaret were living at Maudlands, Warra. In 1936 with Alice and John Jnr at Meandarra and in 1943 John, Alice, John Jnr, Margaret and Constance Minnie were all residing at Wendoree, Meandarra.

The family farmed for a few years at Warra before selling Maudlands in 1932 and moving to Wendoree, Meandarra in 1933.

John shares his headstone with his wife Alice and the inscription reads – In Loving Memory of our dear parents Alice Green died 12th Jun 1943 Aged 78 and John Green died 31st May, 1949.
