Notes – Henry was the son of Margaret (Mamon) (nee McKinven) and Donald McLeod and he was born on the Isle of Islay, Scotland in 1831.

He married Christina McCay on the 17th February, 1854 at Lanark in Scotland. The couples children were born in Scotland and their names were Don, Peter, Norman, Flora, Peggy, Henry, Angus, Alexandrina and Duncan. It appears there may have been other children from the marriage as the 1871 census in Scotland has two more children listed who are not mentioned in Australia. To date no shipping record relating to their entry into Australia has been found for either Henry or Christina.

However indications are Henry and his family were living in Australia since at least 1896, when their son Angus married his wife Miriam at Ravensbourne and he was again found to be living in Perth in 1898. Son, Henry Jr. married his wife Rebe Lillian in Kalgoolie in 1903.

On the census records of 1871 Henry lived at Achrimsdale, Scotland working as a carpenter, aged 41 with Christina aged 32. From 1903 to 1906 Henry was living at Ravensbourne Queensland, working as a farmer with Christina. Rolls show him living at Helidon from 1908 to 1914. From 1915 to 1919 he and Christina were living at Tara.

Christina pre deceased Henry by six years. Henry lived a very long and interesting life and was one of the oldest residents in the Tara Cemetery.

Henry has a headstone on his grave which reads: In loving Memory of Henry McLeod Born 1831 died  1927. Aged 96 Years.
