It is known that by at least 1912, James had moved and was living in Queensland. James married Mary in 1908 at Nymagee NSW. They had two children James and Winnifred. A census record for him for this time states: 1912 to 1928 at Kinkabilla, Dalby working as a Selector. He was based at Kinkabilla with his wife and was a teamster, as the newspaper article below shows.
In 1933 James sent a public notice to the Tara Council to inform them he intended to erect gates across the Coomrith Road and one across the Hannaford Road. In 2025, members of the Morris family still live at Mundaline, Hannaford, or Red Hill as it was called. His son Jack pre-deceased him in 1950 after being involved in a freak accident.
The inscription on the headstone marking James final resting place reads: In loving Memory of James Herbert Morris. Died 12th August, 1951. Aged 74 years.
