ROWLINGS, Alice Evelyn
Name – ROWLINGS, Alice Evelyn
Born – 19/12/1899
Died – 10/05/1949
Location – No 73 Catholic Section
Mother – Alice Mary Edwards
Father – Daniel David Murphy
Notes – Alice was born to Daniel David and Alice Mary (nee Edwards) Murphy at Gulf Creek, Bingara NSW in 1899. Her parents had nine children in all. David, Elizabeth, Dennis, Sarah Ann, Margaret, Isabella, William, Alice and Elsie.
Alice married Myles Francis Rowlings in 1920 and had one son to him James David. The odd thing is I can’t find one census or roll with Alice living with her husband. Then he remarries and dies in 1972.
James died when he was only 7 years old. Family members have other chuldren to Alice, but I haven’t found their details.
Alice seems to have spent about a decade around Inglewood. The 1937 electoral roll has Alice at Whetstone, Inglewood, home duties and then 1943 she is at 170 Herries St, Toowoomba. The 1946 to 1949 rolls have Alice at Logeah , Hannaford, Tara doing home duties, but the odd thing is that her old husbands Uncle and his son and wife are living at Wahroonga, Tara at that time.
Alice is buried next to her mother, Alice Murphy who died 7 weeks after Alice did. Alice Evelyn Rowlings has no headstone to mark her grave.
