SHARP, Alfred Herbert
Name – SHARP, Alfred Herbert
Born – 1880
Died – 2/11/1939
Location – No 17 Presbyterian Section
Mother – Martha Emily Diver
Father – David Sharp
Notes – Alfred Herbert was born to Martha Emily (nee Driver) and David Sharp in Victoria. He has siblings of James, Sarah, Margaret, William, Alexander and Edwin.
Alfred was one of the original Tara Closer Settlement settlers with his father David. I will attach his photo from that occasion. Bear this in mind when looking at the photo. It was taken in 1907 or so. Alfred is the young looking man with the rifle kneeling down. He should be about 27-28 years old. He looks very young. He had a troubled life, the poor man. He seemed to have a bit of bad luck as well.
In 1936 he had an accident involving bardbed wire and a horse. Read the newspaper story. Not long after this incident Alfred sold his farm and moved back to live with his brother William at Vickery Park.
He apparently suffered from a mental heath issue for much of his life. I will attach the report that was given in the paper at the time of his death. The reporters back then didnt hold back on any information. Must have been hard on the families. He left his entire estate to his neice Laura.
SHARP, Alfred Herbert has no headstone.
