Notes – Caroline was born to Charlotte (nee Cornish) and George William Shaw at Hamilton, Victoria in 1861. She had siblings of George 1862, Frederick 1864 and Adolphus 1866.

Her father died when she was five years old. Her mother remarried and she had half siblings of James, Elizabeth, Frank, Evaline, Maud and Eva.

Coroline Shaw married John Thomas in 1881 at Mortlake, Victoria. They had ten children, John 1883, Maud 1884, Henry 1887, Lillian 1890, Caroline 1892, Eva 1894, Joseph 1897, Benjiman 1901, Daniel 1906 and William 1909.

John and Caroline came to Tara in 1912 with their children. They took up a selection at Kentucky, Humbug Creek, Tara.

Caroline was buried the same day as she died. Her headstone reads – In loving Memory of Caroline Thomas Died Oct 1st, 1947. Aged 86 years. Her husband John was buried in Dalby.
